My Digital Studio Calendar

This afternoon I watched a webinar hosted by Stampin' Up! having to do with My Digital Studio.  If you aren't familiar with MDS, it's our digital designing software, and it's a wonderful program to make scrapbooks, cards, calendars and so much more! Stampin' Up! has been releasing free downloads each month, and since January they have been desktop calendars for 2013.  I got to thinking after watching the webinar, why couldn't I make them for 2014 and have them printed in December from the professional printing company.  I've been pleased so far with how they are turning out. In order to "block" the 2013 calendar, I've placed a square punch over the top and matched the color of the background so that it's seamless.  Then, I added the month and year that I wanted (a great new feature in MDS), adjusted the font, color and size.   If you already have the old MDS, you can now upgrade it for FREE!  Yes, for free.  If yo...

By the Tide

I've been wanting to post something new that I'd made, but it's been a struggle to "want" to sit down and create anything!  Finally today I felt that I was getting some inspiration going.  Whew! The stamp set By the Tide, from the Spring Catalog, works wonderfully for what we card makers call, "man cards".  The fish image, although difficult to see, was stamped in Midnight Muse, then heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  I then used the technique mentioned in the Spring Catalog (page 19), and added Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint over the top using the Aqua Painter.  It gives a nice shimmer to the fish. Thanks for stopping!

March Stamp Club/Class Projects

For March, I focused on some new products, Sale-a-bration and the Spring Catalog.   This card uses the new stamp type (photopolymer) for Stampin' Up!, Designer Type .  The great thing is you can see through the stamp, it's super sticky, and you can bend them to the shape you want.  I like the bold color combo here, using some of the Designer Series Paper and ribbon from Sale-a-Bration, Sycamore Street. This cute little holder holds a chap stick and makes a great gift.  Thanks to Jen Wade, who is on my team, for the great idea.  It's a 3-1/2" x 5-3/4" piece of card stock, scored along the 5-3/4" side at 2-1/2" and 3-1/4".   This adorable card was cased from Julie Davison .  I used Early Espresso ink and card stock and 1/8" Taffeta ribbon (instead of Linen thread), Naturals Ivory card stock, and an image from Perfectly Penned to make it my own.  I also chose to corner-round the edges of the card. This last card is on...

Honeycomb Birthday

I don't often post cards that use retired products.  However, today I was making a birthday card for one of my niece's and wanted to use pink and purple.  After-all, they are her favorite colors. I didn't have any current designer series paper that met the qualifications for those colors, but I did have some retired paper.  The Honeycomb TIEF was used for the Whisper White, and it was from another project.  Because the designer series paper had some Lovely Lilac (a retired Stampin' Up! color), I pulled out one of the sheets that I still have of that color to coordinate.  The ribbon is a piece of Pretty In Pink satin ribbon (also retired). I did use the new Simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate on the edge of the card, and I'll admit that I'm liking it more the more I use it.  There's definitely a learning curve!  The message is Sassy Salutations and it's not very noticeable, but there's a Rhinestone Basic Jewel over the "I" in Birth...
