Another Sympathy

Sympathy cards are always the ones that I wish I didn't need to send.  This past week, I've needed to send out a few of them. The new hostess stamp set, Bloom with Hope, was the set I chose to use.  I colored in the flowers using the new Blendabilities markers, using the Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive colors.  A simple Crumb Cake card stock base, a doily and some Cherry Cobbler seam binding trim finished off the look. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the "With Sympathy" greeting was given a little dimension by placing a Stampin' Dimensional in the center and then holding down the ends using the new Fast Fuse Adhesive (I love this stuff!). Other items used: Sizzix Big Shot, Ovals Collection Framelits

June Stamp Club Projects

Don't fall out of your chairs just yet, but I'm actually posting the projects for my June stamp club on the day that we have stamp club! I know, shocking! This card is one I've cased (something I seem to need to do a lot lately) from another talented demonstrator, but I don't remember her name. It uses the single stamp from the Summer Mini catalog Land of the Free, and Newsprint Designer Series Paper, and the Extra-Large Star punch (both are on the retired list). The colors are Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Very Vanilla. The star was punched first and then run through the Big-Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder. A simple card that could be used for either a summer birthday or the 4th of July celebration. This next card is again a case, from Laura Seago . It uses the Inlaid Embossing technique, applying punched images onto card stock and then running it all through the Big-Shot using a textured impressions folder. Here I used the Squa...

August Stamp Club

I've been busy as of my return from Salt Lake City and Stampin' Up!'s annual convention. However, I've been neglecting my posting here. Here are the projects we made at my Littleton's August stamp club. Stamp sets used: Just Believe #116948 (wood mount) $33.95 #120453 (clear mount) $25.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370 (wood mount) $36.95 Fabulous Phrases #117002 (wood mount) $37.95 #120501 (clear mount) $26.95 This card was made using the Black Magic technique. A simple card, but the coloring in takes a little bit more time than simply stamping in ink. This card I cased from a fellow demonstrator, Lynn Pratt. I made a few changes by using card stock run through the crimper instead of using ribbon. I loved how simple the card was to make using a piece of card stock run through the Big-Shot and using the Top-Note die, scored and folded over along the top. Finally, we made a card using the reflection technique. This card was also cased from Lynn. I made changes to...

Give Thanks

In getting a moment to do some stamping, I came up with this card that would be perfect for a Thanksgiving card. The card base is Old Olive card stock. The jumbo Stampin' Around Wheel, Bright Blessings (115626 $8.50), was used to wheel across the center of the card stock using Old Olive Classic ink. I had also wheeled across a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the same wheel, only taking the time to ink up different sections of the wheel with the Many Marvelous Markers (More Mustard, Ruby Red, Really Rust, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie colors) before rolling it across the card stock. This piece I then punched using the Scallop Circle punch and attached to the Ruby Red scallop with Stampin' Dimensionals. The Ruby Red scallop behind it was made using the Scallop #2 die cut for the Sizzix Big Shot. The "In every thing give THANKS" tag was made from wheeling Old Olive ink across Very Vanilla card stock, and then punching it out with the Modern Label punch. This is atta...

Summer Fun Photo Book

This cute photo book was one of the projects made at my May stamp clubs.  The base consists of 2- 5"x7" pieces of Pacific Point cardstock (these are the book front and back).  The binding is a 5"x2.5" piece of textured Tangerine Tango cardstock.   The bear, an image from the Under the Stars stamp set, is stamped onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and layered onto a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The bear is colored in using Stampin' Pastels. Letters are cut using the Big Shot and Go Go Boots alphabet Sizzlits die set and Summer Sun and Tangerine Tango cardstock scraps.  To put it all together, add 4 (or more) clear translucent envelopes stacked on top of each other (remove the protective strip to expose the adhesive, and adhere), starting with placing one onto the back piece (adhesive side down) and following with remaining envelopes. When you have placed all the envelopes, put the cover on top, score the binding in half and place.  Holding it in the ce...

Bride Box

The inspiration finally came for the Bridal dress box using the Sizzix Big Shot.  This matches the tuxedo box I posted earlier.   The "bodice" of the dress is made using Shimmery White card stock.  To give the dress the look of fabric, I used the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 texture plates.  The buttons are half-pearls from the Pretties kit. To finish it off, I added a strip of sheer fabric attached with a strip of Sticky Strip and a piece of Whisper White organza ribbon over the top edge. Here is a side view to show the Box #2 die that the fronts are attached to:

Tuxedo Big Shot Box

This cute little box is an idea I came up with one morning.  At the time, I didn't know that I would turn it into a box.  But, after seeing other Big Shot box ideas I decided to try it with the tuxedo. The base is made from a Whisper White piece of card stock cut using the Top Note Die from Stampin' Up!   A second Top Note Die is cut from Basic Black and cut from the top center down about 1/3 of the way.  Fold these out for the lapels using a bone folder.  The "buttons" are 2 circles punched with a 1/4" circle punch.  To make the shirt "ruffles" use Whisper White card stock and the scallop edge punch.  Make 4 edges and 1 piece that you scallop along both sides.  The bow-tie is free-hand cut from Basic Black card stock.   In order to make this into a box, cut Basic Black card stock using the Bag w/Scallop Die for the Big Shot.  Cut off the scallop part of the box, and adhere the rest together using Sticky Strip.  Cut out one more Top Note Die from Basic ...

The 3 "R"s Card

I had some time to do a little leisurely stamping, and this card is what I came up with.  It uses the stamp set "Many Mower" from the Occasions Mini catalog.  The image is stamped in Jet-Black Staz-On ink onto watercolor paper.  Then, it's colored in using the Aqua Painters and Classic Stampin' Pads (here Riding Hood Red, Pacific Point and Summer Sun).  It's layered onto a piece of Riding Hood Red card stock and adhered to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. The card base is Pacific Point card stock that has been run through the Sizzix Big-Shot with the Texture Plates Kit #4.  The strip of Basic Black card stock sets off the image for the finishing touch.

Top-Note Die Cut Bunny Box Tutorial

This little box is very cute.  And, although Easter is just around the corner you can put one together very quickly! Paper:   Whisper White (6”x10-1/2” for box, 2- 4”x5” for die cut),   Creamy Caramel (2- 1-1/4”x5-1/4”, 4”x5” for die cut), Lovely Lilac, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White (scraps)   Accessories: Paper Trimmer w/scoring blade, Big Shot machine, Top-Note Die, Birds & Blooms Die, 1” circle punch, 1/2” circle punch, Lg Oval punch, Sm Oval punch, Horizontal punch, 15” Whisper White 1/4” grosrain ribbon, Soft Subtles brads, Sticky Strip, Signo White Gel pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Tombow Multi-Purpose glue, Crafter's Tool Kit (paper piercer). Cut along the last score lines up to the horizontal score line on one side. Turn and repeat on the oppos...

Polka Dot Punched Box

I finally got a chance to play with the Box #2 Bigz XL die that goes with the Big Shot. Using Pink Pirouette Textured card stock, I stamped the heart image from the Polka Dot Punches set (a Sale-A-Bration stamp set) in Pink Pirouette ink onto the box. The lace trim is made using Whisper White card stock and the new Eyelet Border punch. A heart stamped onto Whisper White card stock and punched out using the new Full Heart punch and a little bit of Pink Pirouette striped grosgrain ribbon finish everything off.

More Christmas

I've been wanting to make this cute little reindeer ornament since the end of February, it just took me awhile to figure out just how I wanted to do it. With the release of the Sizzix Big Shot to Stampin' Up! this summer it made it very easy to do. The tin is a Wilton heart favor tin that can be found at most craft stores. I had some left over from a Valentines' day project. The nose is a small red pom pom, and the eyes are wiggle eyes. The ears are made using the Stampin' Up! exclusive die Birds & Blooms, just using the wings for the bird as ears cut out of Close to Cocoa card stock. The antlers are made using the Swirls Scribbles die cut out of Chocolate Chip card stock. I attached them all with mini glue dots. The ornament is hung by punching a 1/8" hole with the Crop-a-Dile and then threading some elastic silver cord through the hole and tying a good knot to keep it closed. These would be really cute tied onto kids packages with just a little candy i...

Snowflake Ornament

The picture really doesn't do this justice. The snowflake is the cut using my Sizzix Big Shot and the Snowflake #2 die. To make it, I took a piece of cardboard backing (like you find at the end of a legal pad of paper). Then I cut 2 pieces of designer series paper, here from the Frosty Day DSP in Stampin' Up!'s holiday mini catalog, and ran them through my Xyron machine to adhere adhesive to one side. I made a "sandwich" of sorts with a piece of paper, the cardboard, and another piece of paper. When this was done, I ran the "sandwich" through my Big Shot to make a snowflake that is 2 sided and perfectly aligned. To finish the ornament off, I used some 2-way glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to make it sparkle and added a half-pearl (from the Pretties kit) to the center using a mini-glue dot. It's hung using silver elastic cord (also found in the holiday mini catalog) tied around the top.

Big Shot Snowman Box

I'm finally getting around to loading some pictures from November's stamp club meetings. This cute little guy was a real hit, but I need to give credit to Cambria Turnbow for the box instructions and Kimberly Van Diepen credit for the design of the snowman. The snowman face is made using the Big Shot and the exclusive Top-Note die from Stampin' Up! This die is so versatile! The face base is made using Whisper White card stock, and the hat using Basic Black card stock. To make the box use a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 10-1/2" x 6". Score along the 10-1/2" side at 4-1/4" and 6-1/4". Turn 90 degrees and score along the 6" side at 1-1/2" and 4-1/2". Cut along the score lines (6" side at the top) down to the horizontal score lines made earlier. I'll load some pictures of the process as soon as I get a chance. Turn the piece around 180 degrees (so the other 6" side is at the top) and repeat the cutting. ...

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack Sneak Peek

This is one of the cards we'll be making on November 1st for my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. It uses the Holiday Line-Up stamp set and the Top-Note Bigz Die for the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. Rudolph's nose is made to shine using some chunky glitter.
