A Blast From the Past

Last night when I was looking through some stamping "scraps", I came across this mostly uncolored stamped image.  For my customers that have been around since my very first, new catalog open house, you'll recognize this as the make & take we did!

It's colored in using the Stampin' Pastels, and the colors are likely different from that day back in 2002.  The fire was stamped first, a "mask" from a post-it-note was then applied over the fire.  Next, the boy and girl were stamped and the same method was used to mask them and finally the tent was stamped.

The corner rounder from years ago cut out a little bigger "bite" from the card stock than the new one does, so therefore the difference in corner-rounding.

I've been "MIA" for a little while.  But, I'm back on board and hopeful that I'll be posting on a more regular basis.

Here is a card that my stamp club made in May.  The stamp set is still a current stamp Best Dad Ever #120399 [w] & #120681 [c], however the designer series paper has retired.  I love the simplicity of this card.  The ties, which are all on one stamp, were inked in VersaMark ink and then embossed with black embossing powder.  The middle tie, was then colored in using a Crumb Cake marker.  I chose to use the "happy birthday" image, but there are also a couple of father's day images that one could use as well.  A really great "man-card" type of stamp set!

Creativity at work....not!

Have you ever had one of those, "can't get the creativity started" moments?  Well, mine has gone on for weeks now.  Maybe it's the fact that the new catalog is coming out soon.  Whatever is the cause, I hope that the lack-of-creativity goes away soon!

It's a bit late in the posting, but I wanted to share a project that I put together for the Summer Smooches special that has been going on this month.  (you still have until 11:59pm tomorrow, April 30th to order...or wait until June 1st for the new catalog)

I first came up with this project for a demonstrator swap I participated in back the end of March.  And, since it was such a nice layout I used it for my April stamp club meeting as well.  So, some of you may have already seen this project.  

It uses the Daisies #2 and Tasteful Trim die cuts for the Sizzix Big-Shot.  The center of the flower is one of the fabric brads that was only available during the April special, and unfortunately were so popular that they have already sold out!

March Stamp Technique Class

Here are the remaining cards we made this month at my stamp technique class.  The theme this month was "Shake It Up Sizes", so we made cards that were different from the traditional quarter-sheet size.  For all the cards, we used the stamp set Everybunny.  It comes in clear-mount and wood mount.

This first card is a case from Fran Sabad.  The card she made was just a little smaller than this one which is a 9-1/4" x 4" card and fits perfectly into a business-size envelope.  Because I didn't have the Tasteful Trim die for the Big-Shot, I used the Scallop Edge punch instead.

This next card is another one that I cased.  I'm so sorry, but I cannot remember who I got the idea from. It just goes to show you though, that you don't have to come up with ideas on your own.  Stampin' Up! Demonstrator's are awesome at sharing their ideas.
Anyway, this card is made using the Scallop Square die for the Big-Shot.  You can use pretty much any die to make a card.  Just place the fold of the card stock just below the top edge of the die (so it doesn't cut through there).

Stamp Class Sneak Peek

Tonight I'm hosting another technique stamp class, and the theme tonight is shake it up sizes.  Each card we are making are different sizes than the traditional 1/4 sheet size card.  

Below is a sneak-peek of one of the cards we'll be making.  It's an easel card, and while it closes to the same size as a 1/4 sheet card, it's full of surprises for the recipient.

You start with a 11'x4-1/4" piece of card stock.  Score it along the 11" side at 5-1/2" & 8-1/4".  You'll also need a piece of card stock for the front of the card that is cut at 4-1/4"x5-1/2".  

Here is a side-view of the finished card.  The 11"x4-1/4" piece is folded along the scored lines, and the short end is attached to the card front piece.  Decorate as desired.  Here I used some of the Everyday Enchantment DSP from the Sale-a-Bration brochure (it's only available through March 31st).  You need something to keep the card open in the easel position, and the button works out really well.  

The stamp set used is Everybunny from the 2011-12 Idea Book & Catalog.  It's such a cute stamp set!
